TOKYO LAUNDRY, Circular Quay, Sydney, Australia
Turning Japanese at Tokyo Laundry.
“Understated Excellence at Tokyo Laundry.”
I can’t believe it took me so long to eat here, and now that I have I seriously can’t get enough. If you have been fortunate to stumble upon Tokyo Laundry, located on level 1 of The Gateway Building in Circular Quay (after Chatthai), you will know that their food is AMAZING and their cocktails are something else - literally.
🥩 Beef Tataki with shiso ponzu, truffle oil and potato crisps;
🐟 Miso Black Cod - this cod is velvety, literally flakes off like silk, and has a rich smokey flavour from the flame torched wood underneath the fish;
🌮 Sashimi Taco - anyone who thinks Mexican and Japanese Fusion is the best knows a thing or two in life - imagine a super crispy seaweed shell, melt in your mouth sashimi, creamy guacamole and spicy sauce;
🍤 Popcorn prawn - kind of like popcorn chicken but even better 😂
🥩 Wagyu Yakiniku Steak - this is seriously the most tender rump I’ve had;
🐠 Spicy Tuna Roll - again with the spiciness - tuna and spicy sauce is the best!
🍗 Chicken Gyoza (pictured in flatlay) - not just an ordinary dumpling, this dumpling is seriously good! You just gotta eat it to find out 😉
Service: Great, all staff are very friendly.
Sanitation and Hygiene: The restaurant is very clean, and there are restrooms next to the restaurant in the Gateway building.
Ease of access: In the heart of Circular Quay, in the Gateway building, accessible by escalator or lift.
Overall quality compared to similar Japanese restaurants: Definitely at the top tier.
Price: A bit pricey, but worth it.
