Dining on the Edge at @amandas_on_the_edge
A few weeks ago, I surprised my fiancée with a trip to Hunter Valley. HV is famous for their wine, highly quality local produce, which means their restaurants and cafes are some of the best in the state. One of those great restaurants is Amanda’s on the Edge, which both my fiancée and I agree that the food is some of the best we’ve had in 2019.
To start, their restaurant is gorgeous. It’s a rustic cottage styled restaurant with sentiment and nostalgia.
The food is made from the heart. Nothing here is showy, it’s all very simple food but done right. I had gnocchi and pork belly to start. The gnocchi was tasty, a small portion but just enough to get the appetite going. The pork belly was simple stunning - that skin was cooked ON POINT.
For our mains, we ordered two of the specials of the weekend. Both my fiance’s lamb and my snapper were gorgeous. I tried his lamb, it was juicy and heartwarmingly good. My snapper tasted incredibly fresh, and paired well with the asian greens and dressing. This is no surprise about the quality, considering accessibility to fresh local produce and meats. To finish off, we ordered the Creme Brulee, which of course was beautiful, however I highly recommend just ordering it for the shortbread - best shortbread ever.
