Bar Luca is exactly what it is, a bar. Perfect for lunches, afternoon drinks, a cornerstone for a good night out, but what they are really known for are their burgers.
I'd been wanting to come here ever since my fellow Instagram enthusiasts told me it's impossible to compare Sydney burgers until I've tried one from Bar Luca.
We came on Monday afternoon around 1:30pm. It was a pretty busy bar but still managed to find some high tables to enjoy our meals.
We didn't order any drinks today.
Beef patty, Maple Glazed Streaky Bacon, Maple Aioli, American cheese & Poutine.
My friend Michael @thesydneyburgerblogger told me if in doubt, Blame Canada. So I put the blame on Canada all the way down to the pit of my stomach. This burger was absolutely sensational; what sets it apart is the Maple Aioli, it really adds that subtle sweet element to the burger that is so far unparalleled.
Double Beef Pattie, Bacon Jam Mozzerella patty with smokey BBQ sauce and jalapeno.
Michael is no stranger to Bar Luca, so when he comes in for a bite he always grabs the special for that variety. The G.O.A.T is a taste bud rollercoaster: savoury, sweet, cheesey, smokey and spicy - the winner combo for satisfied burger lovers. Michael said it was up to scratch, but in the end he wished he had gotten the Blame Canada. Awww.
Instagram factor: As with burgers, there is no real way to make a burger look pretty (unless you put a flower on it - #myprettyburger), but if you stack it tall with a double or even triple patty, you know it's gonna garner lots of hungry burgerporn fans to your growing followers list.
