When I first arrived in Sydney 2 years ago, locals told me that the Shire was home to some damn good eats. Well, I finally made the trip out to Sutherland, and it’s not disappointing.
In the heart of the Sutherland town centre is Frank & Blanco, a Mexican fusion restaurant “WHERE CULTURE AND GRACE MEET STYLE AND TASTE”. One will walk through that door and be instantly beckoned by a neon sign “Feed me tacos and tell me I’m pretty” - slightly erotic, yes, but encapsulates what I’ve always felt about food - enjoying food to its fullest is not without a little bit of lust. I can see a lot of this goes on in the Shire.
Chefs know best, so we let the chef decide what we will be eating today.
🐟 Tuna Tostada with kewpie mayo and avo mousse - crispy base, creamy mousse, loved the seared tuna and kewpie mayo is amazing.
🐙 Grilled Octopus with crispy potato and Mole - my unexpected love of the day - the grilled octopus was so tender, and paired with that mole sauce was unbelievable!
👨🏻🍳 Chef’s Taco - this one changes by the day depending on what the chef can get in stock. This one is beetroot, and was very juicy and flavourful.
🌽 Chargrilled Corn with lime and chipotle aioli - the most aesthetically interesting dish, and really tasty. Such a simple concept and done so well.
🧀 Grilled Haloumi with salsa - another simple snack dish - how doesn’t like haloumi?
Also loved the decor of course, loved the trinkets around the room that gave it character. If you look hard enough you will see writing on the walls with interesting facts about Mexican food and drink that will distract you momentarily.
Service was spot on, it was a warm and friendly atmosphere.
This restaurant is right by the train station which is very handy for even the public commuters. Plenty of on street parking nearby.
Clean and spacious facilities.
Highly recommend 10/10.
